ITFR expects its volunteers to develop a comprehensive bird’s-eye understanding of the organization – our vision, mission, values, target geographies, and priority thematic areas. Volunteers are encouraged to look beyond individual projects and engage with ITFR’s work at a systems and strategy level.
Specifically, volunteers are expected to:
1. Strategic Understanding and Alignment
- Gain a holistic understanding of ITFR’s objectives, core programs, and long-term impact goals
- Align their contributions with ITFR’s focus on indigenous knowledge systems, linking them with advanced / frontier technologies, leading to inclusive development
2. Strategic Advice and Thought Partnership
- Offering strategic insights and advisory support to sharpen ITFR’s focus areas and refine its programmatic priorities
- Help identify gaps, opportunities, and emerging trends relevant to ITFR’s mission
3. Visibility, Positioning, and Narrative Building
- Contribute to improving ITFR’s visibility, credibility, and thought leadership across stakeholder groups
- Support the articulation of clear narratives that communicate ITFR’s value proposition to partners, funders, academia, industry, and communities
4. Collaboration and Partnership Development
- Actively facilitate and attract new collaborators, including institutions, industry partners, researchers, practitioners, and grassroots organizations
- Strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships to accelerate impact in ITFR’s target areas
5. Program Advancement: Concept to Implementation
- Support the progression of selected programs from conceptual frameworks to pilot projects and full-scale implementation
- Assist in program design, validation, resource mobilization, and implementation roadmaps
6. Scaling and Next-Level Impact
- Help take promising initiatives to the next level by enabling pilots, proof-of-concept demonstrations, replication models, or policy linkages
- Encourage scalability, sustainability, and long-term ownership of programs
7. Mentorship and Capacity Building
- Provide mentorship to internal teams, fellows, startups, and community partners
- Strengthen institutional and grassroots capacities for innovation and execution
